Mill Green Museum, Hatfield House – 13 June

This was the Mayor of Welwyn – Hatfield’s Garden Party held to raise money for her nominated charity Resolve.

Mill Green Museum is an eighteenth century working watermill and museum set in an attractive riverside setting. The cluster of historic buildings and the surrounding grounds are a lovely setting for a Garden Party. Unfortunately the weather forecast said warm and sunny but it turned out to be cold and wet so we didn’t manage to explore the grounds as we stayed under the gazebo to keep warm and dry.  A watermill has been on the site for nearly 1000 years and you can see fresh flour being produced in the traditional manner. The flour is on sale in the museum shop. The scones for the cream tea we were served were made from the wholemeal gran flour produced by the watermill and I must say they were very tasty. It was a nice day despite the weather and we will go back again to have a look around the grounds.
